ben folds five - brick

good band. i want to get the cd.
sooo it's been a fun week! nearly killed myself at crew all week, especially wednesday with the whole double practice thing. came down with the flu/virus type thing thursday night, stayed home all day friday feeling and being sick. felt better in the evening, went out to a haunted corn maze with my awesome pool friends (some of them were acting funny, others had road rage. i started not feeling too well later on. it was a fun night.) i came home and watched super mario brothers (ahh fun movie!) then crashed asleep.
saturday (today!) was great! woke up early, watched fame, showered and drove up to broadway with brenda and tuey! they filled me in on all the crazy drama i've been missing out on. we started off eating at dick's, where we got into an interesting conversation with these two scruffy/preppy boys. one was vegan, the other one was giving him shit about it while he ate his hamburger. they were cool. then we talked with one of those street-corner political guys about the war in iraq, kerry vs. bush, and what it might take to fix the nation. cue some shopping, plus me getting sick a couple times between stores. looks like it wasn't a 24-hour thing after all, more like a morning thing. morning sickness maybe? except i'm not pregnant. so there goes that idea.
came home eventually, after driving around listening to everclear and takin' it easy on martin luther king jr. way. chilled at brandon's for a while. terry gave brandon a mohawk! that was awesome to watch, i really wish i carried my camera around more often. i only ever take it with me when i go to visit my cousin, so my walls are all covered with pictures of people from 3 hours away. really, interesting things do happen to me at home. i just never have the camera with me.
back at tuey's we watched tuck everlasting, now i want to read the book. i'm hoping it'll be like peter pan, one of those amazing books i missed out on in my childhood. so i came home to find an application from western! awesome! and monday hopefully i'll remember to pick up applications for some of those other schools i'll be applying to (just in case.)

soul asylum - string of pearls

okay. so the regatta today was awesome. where to start?? umm.. i don't actually remember much before everyone crowded onto the dock to watch the mixed boys boat finish their race. i almost knocked a bunch of people into the water when i fell on my ass. chelsea and i kept sitting out there long after everyone left. we planned to take apart the dock, build a raft, and go floating out into the lake. which shows you just how weird the crew kids can get. so allie and holly came to join us and eventually we got chairs and stuff, and just sat on our butts for a very long time. there was lots of good food! hot cocoa and cider and muffins and all that. for our race, katie and i both had to use the bathroom really bad as soon as we got on the water. the race itself sucked, big time. when we got back kirstin had been taken to the emergency room because she got a rock stuck in her ear (don't ask) so i had to take her place in the novie boat. and actually, they did a lot better than they did for their last race. and their pace was ten times more even than our varsity boat.
so we're planning on getting varsity sweatshirts, and everyone has to have a nickname. chelsea's new name is chuck, i forget how we came up with it, but it works. now we just have to work on names for all the katie's. oh, and they're thinking of calling me steve-o until something better comes up. so i got a cool new sweatshirt and i stank really bad until i took a shower just now. and i want to sleep.
