broadcasting live from idaho

so i just had this really funky dream. i was black, and living in a huge house with just my mom (my real mom. she hadn't changed.) and jessika. there was something about her working at an ice cream parlor and i wanted a slurpee. so anyway i'm at a punk show, and i meet this scrawny kid with tribal war paint all over his body, and he's going absolutely nuts in the pit. the sweat's dripping off him and the paint is starting to melt. he's homeless so i invite him to come live at my house for a while - and he does. we're walking back to my house together when i see this guy that i've run into before. he's also not wearing a shirt, his black hair is long and shaggy, and he's really dirty. basically he'd hated his family so he went to live on his own, in the wilderness. remember that book, far side of the mountain, with the kid who lives in a tree? well, this guy was like that kid, only less successful. so just like every other time i talk to him, i invited him to come stay at my house. and finally he does! so i've dragged home two random guys and they both get showers and i take off to do.. something. later i'm talking to my mom and she's laughing her ass off about how nice "those two boys" are and how once they'd gotten a shower they weren't so bad. "and that one boy's chest is very impressive." so then it's the first day o' school and i've got the boys tagging along, and the dream makes sense! it's freshman year. my name is lisa, the big guy with black hair is slater, and the little guy from the punk show is screech. it's the story of how the saved by the bell kids first met! crazy. zack was an asshole to slater and slater was all unsure of himself (come on, he's fresh from the wilderness.) and screech gets the shit beat out of him for pissing everyone off.
anyway that was a really funky dream but it was cool too. so there.

social distortion - story of my life

awesome! i'm off to idaho tomorrow! i've spent all day lazing around and packing and thinking about that plane tomorrow. there's a downside though. i didn't know about it until tonight. niko's having a big ol' party over at his house on friday, then taking off to college in louisiana on sunday. so tonight was the last time i'd ever see him. niko's an awesome guy, so it's sad. one less fun person to work with - and the rest are all leaving for college later this summer.
so, i watched nip/tuck at home tonight because my mother wanted me to. she seemed happy about it. scott and i watched major payne, too, which is a geniusly funny movie. oh, and elizabeth and i stole new swimsuits from the racks of speedos at work.

mos def and massive attack - i against i

rented movies and sat on my ass for 6 hours today. that's how lazy, sick, and hot i was all day. it was the last day of crew this morning, but it wasn't anything special. just derigging the boats and putting stuff away. i'll be back in the fall, though! starts the same day as school, so that'll be one fun busy day.
brent and i saw harold and kumar go to whitecastle. good movie! it'd be ten times funnier watching it stoned, but it was funny either way. we walked out of there craving burgers, so we drove to seattle and went to the burger hut (best burgers... ever!) then we drove home having a nice long conversation about family stuff. now i'm exhausted and i'm going to sleep.

that's me at the end of the boat, alicia up front, and half of conner on the side. Posted by Hello

incubus - pardon me

i don't care much about updating this thing anymore, but it's been a daily habit for more than a year now. it's hard to stop. but i'll tell you what i did anyway, even though i'm supposed to be grocery shopping with my mom right now...
friday rained like a bitch all morning. at crew we were all soaking wet. we had to derig, wash the boats and load them onto the trailer in the pouring rain, and go out in our race lineup and do a quick timed 1000 meter sprint. poor conner, he coxed all the boats, so he was out in the rain for 3 hours in shorts and a t-shirt. so, when our novice boat was up, we went out, did our thing, and got a 4.19. the intermediate girls had a 4.29, so we beat them! that was cool. so basically we did a really good job on friday.
saturday started out nice and early, not raining too bad either. i got to green lake right after christie's race, so i didn't see it but basically, she started out way ahead of the boats, then flipped over. she was ready to kill someone all morning. we all felt really bad about it. during our race, we started out way ahead of the rest of the boats. we kept about 2 boat lengths between us and the second place boat through almost the entire thing. alicia kept catching crabs, which then screwed up me and danielle. our ratio was off and we really weren't pulling that hard. but we did work at it. we got first place, but because we didn't really feel the competition, the second place boat was right on our ass when we got to the end. plus, our time was 4.31. so we did way worse than friday. which also means that we really didn't do that great, the other teams just did really bad.
the rest of the day was nice and fun, just screwing around and helping out the other people with their races. around 4:30 i took off for seattle to meet up with steph, brandon and bobby for the incubus concert.
so, it was bobby's idea to run through the fountain in the seattle center. we'd been sitting watching it for 15 minutes or so, and i was up for it, so we ran down and ran all through the thing, getting soaking wet and loving it! but of course we didn't have any dry clothes, and the key arena is air-conditioned. so we sat through the whole concert soaking wet and freezing, plus i have a really bad head cold right now so i was pretty much miserable. but incubus was amazing. i was kind of half asleep through the whole thing, but that's okay. it was incredible anyway.
the drive home was pretty intense. i drove bobby home so brandon wouldn't have to sit in the back of tuey's rx-7 again, plus i had dry clothes in my car and bobby got to sit with the blanket and keep me awake. we cut off a bunch of people, drove on the wrong side of the road, almost got in an accident... it was great! we beat tuey and brandon home, too. so i came home and passed out around 12:30, which really isn't all that late, but it felt like 4 am to me.
and now it's sunday, and i'm sick still, and it hurts to move my head around because my neck is stiff and sore. i watched a movie with michael goorjian in it (you know, the guy who plays heroin bob in slc punk? i love that man.) and took a shower, and now i'm going to post this whole thing and go grocery shopping with my mom.
